Great Read!

I just finished the latest book from Jennifer Chiaverini. It is the latest in the Elm Creek Quilter Series. I really enjoyed this one. I don't want to give too much away, but this entry into the series features Bonnie Markham. Bonnie is visiting a friend in Hawaii who wants to open a quilt retreat and has hired Bonnie as a consultant. I would definitely recommend this one. I am now really interested in Hawaiian applique. The book goes into some detail and I am anxious to try it. I have looked on line and found the basics, can anyone recommend a good book to purchase?

Thank you telling us about her new book! I have them all, and did not know about this one yet.
I don't have any books on this subject, but DID order some patterns! I can't wait to make them! Just so many projects in line at the moment, that I need to put it ahead of a few others.
I DID order a few patterns from a shop in Honolulu last year. They are great!. KWILTS IN KOA is where I ordered mine. I also purchased a few packets of her kihei Pili bundles. While, these are not 100% cotton, they are VERY reasonably priced and make up such adorable little quilts with a surfer type feel, since they are from the shirt factories!
My patterns are now on my cutting table, one step closer to coming to life! Thanks!

Thanks for the book recommendation, have read most of hers, always a good read and very inspiring! Love your bags from last post, I imagine they were well received!

Joyce Selin often teaches a class on Hawaiian applique. I have this book on request at the PL. Glad to hear that you liked it. I like Bonnie as a character. Have a fab weekend!

Thanks for the book suggestion. I've read quite a few of Jennifer C's and I'm always looking for another quilt type novel.

Thanks for recommending this book. I have just about all of her books. I'll have to put this one on my list of books to read.

I have 2 really good Hawaiian applique books: "Hawaiian Quilting" by Elizabeth Root & "Beyond Hawaiian Florals" by Stacy Michell. To see some samples, visit Stacy's site http://www.shadestextiles.com/

I would ask Joyce Selin. She would be a great resource for Hawaiian quilting. I read the book too and thought it was good.
