Knitting Away

I am still somewhat hampered by my foot and not able to get down the steps to my sewing room. Yesterday I got bored for the first time in ages. I am still reading The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. It is good, not as good as the first two, or maybe I am just tired of reading if you can believe that. I am not much of a movie watcher, but did watch the movie, "Australia" yesterday. It was really good, kind of an Australian Gone With the Wind. I also started a new knitting project. I am making a shrug. Last year at school one of our teachers had one that I loved and I started looking for the pattern for it. Just when I was about to give up, I found it at one of our local yarn shops a couple of weeks ago. It is the first garment I have ever knitted for myself. So far it is going great. I really wanted to make one in a wild color but common sense prevailed and I went with a neutral color that I could wear it with lots of things.

It is knit in one long piece then folded over and sewn together. If this one turns out ok, I might actually make another one. I really like this pattern because I don't have to worry a lot about fit, there really isn't that much to fit. Wish me luck!

Love the knitting, it is looking good. I have never knit in the summer, seems to hot I guess, but a good idea if you are laid up. I have a tendency to read too fast and thought I read that you were not able to get down the steps because you were the girl who kicked the hornet's nest... LOL -sorry, will slow down and get the whole story. Hope you are up and around soon.

I'd never heard of a shrug before, although I recognized it once I saw the picture. It's good that you like to read!

Our moving friend brought over bags of yarn. We need to go through it together :)
