Having missed out on the Spring Quilt Festival from Park City Girl I didn't want to miss out all of the fun this fall. I have spent the last hour looking at some of the great quilts already in the festival. The quilts and their stories are amazing. The quilt that I decided to show is one that I made last year. I started it in a class last June and didn't finish it until a year later. Nothing wrong with that? I had signed up to take a class at our LQS last May, the name of the class was Stash Pot Pie. When I saw the sample I knew that I had to make the quilt. What I didn't realize at the time was that just a couple of days after the class I would be in 
the hospital having a hysterectomy. The surgery was unexpected, after a trip to the doctor for what I thought was a minor problem the surgery was scheduled. I was so glad that I had signed up for the class, it definitely took my mind off of having surgery. It took a couple of weeks after coming home from the hospital to start feeling like sewing. The main problem was that my sewing room is in the basement and I was supposed to go up and down stairs. Normally I would have just gone up and down the steps, I felt ok, but my husband works out of the house and he was watching me like a hawk. I had to go out side, walk through the back yard and go into the basement from the yard. At least I got a little exercise. I call this my "Recovery Quilt" All of the fabrics in the blocks were from my stash. The only fabric I had to buy was the backing. This is the quilt that I am using on the sofa when I watch TV now that the weather is getting cooler. Check out the great quilts at Park City Girl's site.

Earthy...good cowgirl feeling for sure...traditional and yet you capture the color sense of modern quilts too. Really easy on the eyes...but still intriguing. I like it!

I love how you blended the beiges for the background. My quilting area is in the basement too....I call it my quilt cave. Quilting IS theraputic!
First of all I love the name of your blog! It just made me smile. It will be added to the list of phrases I keep in my head to make me smile.
The beige really makes the quilt shimmer as if sunlight is playing with the clouds. The red fabric brings life to the quilt. Nicely done! Good use of your fabric stash.

As you can see from the date, I am still making my way through the festival. The rearranging of entries really threw me off. When I saw the name of your blog, I was thinking...why I haven't I seen this one before? I love the name!!! Then I saw you were a native of Mississippi, and I couldn't believe it. I, too, am from Mississippi!!! Now living in Florida, but spent lots of time in Montana where I become a cowgirl myself.
