Spring has sprung

Our Snow Flowering Cherry tree is in full bloom.  (along with my allergies).  Just finished cutting the grass for the second time this year and it is just the middle of March, good thing that I really enjoy cutting the grass.  It is one of those things that you can do in total peace, no one bothers you, you can daydream, or think about whatever makes you happy because no one is going to  cut in and say please please let me do this.

I am trying to get back into the blogging thing, unfortunately I don't have any new projects to show, hopefully soon.  Happy Spring.

My new "hobby"

Like I need a new hobby!!  Since I started dyeing wool a couple of years ago, I have ended up with lots of leftover pieces of wool in a variety of  sizes and colors.  I decided to take up hooking.  I took Mary Ellen's class at Little Quilts and absolutely love doing this.  It is so easy, once you get the hang of it.  This is a small piece about 5 x 7.  I need to get a little more consistent in the height of my loops but over all I am pleased with it.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Do you ever feel your life is just out of control busy?  Mine has been the last few weeks.  (actually the last few months).  I decided this year that I wanted to ask for a trtansfer to a different school, I have been at my current school 8 years and decided that it was time for a change.  There was only one school that I was interested in going to and it is a brand new school.  When I found out who the principal was going to be I immediately sent him and email for an interview.  A few days later I foung out I had the job!!  That means a lot more work where I am now getting ready to leave and all of the work involved in opening a new school.  In addition to all of the changes at work, I took a rug hooking class a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it.  (like I need a new hobby)  I have almost finished my little piece.  Mary Ellen over at Little Quilts is a great teacher.  I am also still knitting and working on my stitch along for Winter Wonderland and Silent Night.  I have got to get back to that, soon.  I finished the binding on a quilt so that I could enter it into the East Cobb quilt show later this year.  Finally filled out the entry form and go it in the mail.  This is just the sewing projects  that I have been working on.  I have also been really busy dyeing wool, working on some new spring colors.  Looking forward to spring break.  Just wanted to share the yarn bowl that  my co-worker Lori made for  me.  Here is her site.

Have you had this conversation?

This is the wool applique that I have been working on.
My DH just asked what I was working on, I said it is one section of a quilt and showed it to him.  It is a wool applique block that is a stitch a long that I am doing on Facebook.  While looking at it he asked what is that on the floor in the living room?  Oh that, I am finishing the binding on that quilt.  "You have more than one quilt that you are working on?"  Yes, I have several.  What is that on the wall in your sewing room, is that a third quilt you are working on?  I don't get it why do you have so many projects started?  I tried to explain, but realized that I really didn't have a good answer other that that is just the way it is.   I didn't tell him about the ones that I have boxed up that he can't see.  It made  me realize that I have way too  many quilts started.  I definitley need to finish some of these quilts. It  has been a while since I have had a finish, other that the one I just put binding on.   I guess I can make a resolution at any time of the year.  I am going to finish some of these quilts!!
This is on the design wall in my sewing room.  Hope to finish it soon.

This is what I just finished the binding on.
