Piggies

Last fall while in Houston for Quilt Market I found a stitchery pattern that I just had to have, This Little Piggy , by Scarlet Today.  (I have several of their patterns and love all of them.)I wanted to get started on it right away but too many other projects kept calling my name.  Before going to my mom's house for spring break a few weeks ago, I got the pattern out and traced 4 of the piggies.  I managed to finish three of them while at her house.  Last night I traced 4 more piggies, only 4 more to trace.
Working on one of the "girl" pigs.
Piggie after cookies, my favorite.

Piggie carrying wood.

I think this is a dancing piggie!

New Stitchery project

I always have some type of hand work project going, usually stitchery or applique.  A couple of weeks ago I dug out the Snow Days pattern by Crab Apple Hill Designs.  I purchased the pattern last winter and put it aside.  I know that none of you would ever do that!!  During the summer I found the fabric that I wanted to use for the background of all of the stitchery blocks, it is barely off white with tone on tone swirls. The swirls look like snow blowing in the wind.  I am using one of my new favorite tools to mark the blocks off, the Frixon Pens from Pilot.  I think I am in love with these pens, I have them in blue, black and red.  They are absolutely wonderful for marking patterns off.  It leaves a fine line and if you don't cover it up, all you have to do is iron it out.  What could be easier?

I am also using one of my other new favorites, Cosmo thread.  My friend Kristie had some of this thread last year but with my stock of DMC I wasn't going to buy any, even though it is really nice.  I did decide that I wanted to use the recommended thread for this project.  The color is really unusual, it is called Seasons and is a greenish, greyish, brown if that makes since.  You can see the first block that I have completed below.  The light isn't great, will try to take another photo or wait and show block #2.

New Stitchchery Project

One of

my favorite quilting magazines is American Patchwork and Quilting.  When I see it in mailbox, I know that I can have a nice relaxing evening going through it and picking out new projects.  The problem is that I don't need to  pick out new projects, I need to finish projects that I already have started.  However, in the latest issue there was a cute stitchery pattern that I wanted to do.
The stitchery is Sweet Sachets and is a perfect spring time project.  There were three different versions shown, so of course I automatically traced two of each one, so that gave me six new pieces to work on.  I have finished two an almost have the others complete.  They are going to be backed with 30's fabric and there is white rick rack trim.  I even have home grown Lavender to fill them with.  I had wanted to get them finished for Administrative Professionals Day, but that isn't going to happen.  I will keep a couple and give the rest to friends.
