Yesterday, 12-12-12 was a big birthday for my DH. I wanted to do something really, really special for him (especially since the anniversary present quilt from earlier in the year was such a flop). I thought long and hard on what to get him, talked to a couple of his friends and it finally came to me- a wild boar hunt. He went on one several years ago and has been talking about going on another one. I did some research and finally found one that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I paid for the hunt and he will be able to call and make the arrangements to go whenever he wants. I always give him a Christmas ornament, so I found a pig one, thinking that would be perfect. Once he opened the ornament, he got this really strange glow on his face and started smiling. I think he knew what was coming. Yep, he guessed. I think this was the best present I could have given him. I have definitely redeemed myself from the quilt fiasco.

Happy Birthday to me!!!
My birthday is later this week, and I usually celebrate the entire month of February, this year I get an extra day to celebrate thanks to Leap Year. The celebration began yesterday with an outing to a movie. I saw, The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, this was one of my favorite book series of the last few years, however; I was somewhat disappointed in the movie. If you had not read the book it would have been great, but since I had read the book first there were just too many things that were different. I think that now I want to see the Swedish version. After the movie it was out to dinner with my brother and Peggy, they took me to Uncle Julio's. It was great! On top of the movie and dinner they gave me a book that I had been wanting to read, Lionheart by Sharon Kay Penman. I really like her books. To celebrate my birthday I am doing a giveaway, a Bali Pop,in Mulberry. If interested leave me a comment telling how you celebrate your birthday. For an extra chance to win mention the giveaway on your blog. The winner will be announced next Monday, February 13th. Good Luck.

DH's Birthday
Yesterday was my DH's birthday, Happy Birthday. I usually take the day off and we do something together, but I since I don't have a clerk this year, and I have already taken several days off for unexpected events I decided to work. One reason I take the day off, is I cook him something special and I don't like to be rushed when I am doing it. Yesterday we had Shrimp Fettuccine with cream sauce, fresh croissants, salad with honey balsamic dressing and for dessert decadent Chocolate pudding. (his favorite dessert) For the first time I made him something (that he could actually wear out in public), I was inspired by a fellow blogger last year to make him a camo fleece top. It was my first experience sewing with fleece and it went together perfectly. I think that he liked it. I should have made it a tiny little big bigger but it fits.

What a weekend!!!!
After the museum we headed to our main destination. When we got there, we found that the "Fairy Godmother" had been in our room,(the photo above is our cottage, I could live there.) she had left balloons and champagne. After checking out our room we wandered around the grounds and headed over to the restaurant on the grounds. We had a wonderful dinner, and were visited again by the fairy godmother, our waitress brought out the cutest little birthday cake. It was a perfect day. On Sunday we had a wonderful breakfast followed by a tour of the ruins on the ground. The ruins are the remains of a home built in the 1800's for Julia Scarborough by her husband Godfrey Barnsley. It is a very romantic story.
