Bloggers Fall Quilt Festival

Amy at Amy's Creative Side is once again hosting a bloggers quilt festival.  I am always so inspired by all of the beautiful quilts.  I decided to show my "Huckleberry Pie".  This quilt was made using the pattern "Blueberry Pie"  from Silver Thimble Quilt Co.  I started it last year from a kit that was put together by Little Quilts, in addition to the fabrics in the kit I added some of my own. This is the first purple quilt I have ever made, not sure what inspired me to do it, but I love it.  I decided to make the larger size, it is 64 x 80.  I had it quilted by Leisa Wiggley and as usual she did a great job.  Can't wait to see what everyone else is putting in the show.

Blogger's Quilt Festival

I always look forward to seeing all of the wonderful quilts and reading the stories about them in the Bloggers Quilt Festival.    This is my snowman stitchery quilt that I just finished.  I purchased the fabric two years ago while on Christmas break.  I usually go shopping with my friends Becky and Kristie sometime during our winter break.  Kristie and I  both saw this pattern and fell in love with it.  I have to admit it took me a while to get going on it, but once I did I couldn't wait to finish it.  I love the way Leisa quilted it.  I should have taken a better picture of the quilting, she put snowflakes all through it. I had debated on if I should let my mom hand quilt it or let Leisa machine quilt it.  Nothing against my mom, but I love what Leisa did.  The only thing I have left to do is make a label for it.

Fall Bloggers Quilt Festival

I can't believe that it is already time for the Fall Quilt Bloggers Festival.  This is one blogging event that I always look forward to.  I am showing one of  my all time favorite quilts.  This is the first neutral quilt that I ever made.  (to me red is a neutral).  I found the pattern in one of the McCall's quilting magazines several years ago and started collecting neutrals.  The one shown in the magazine had brown stars and accent squares, but I knew that I wanted mine to be a shade of red.  This was a really, really easy quilt to make.  I am thinking about making another one and using black for the stars and accent squares.

Bloggers Quilt Festival

One of my favorite things in the blogging world is the Bloggers Quilt Festival, sponsored by Amy's Creative Side I always love looking at all of the quilts everyone puts up. For some reason this year I haven't gotten very much accomplished. I have finished two quilts and one of them has become one of my favorites, Glory Bound. It was a kit from Silver Thimble that I started last year and finished back in March. It is one of my favorites because I love the fabrics, which are mostly civil war repros. I actually thought about making it bigger but decided that I had made all of the half square triangles that I wanted to for a while.
